RSS: #4: How to Quit Procrastinating

An Excerpt from
Stuck On Stop: How to Quit Procrastinating!
by Vicki Hitzges

In the opening scene of a thriller I once read, a small crowd waited to cross a noisy intersection. The sounds of motors honking, the occasional curse word from a driver, radio music, talking, and beckoning calls from hot dog venders filled the air. The pedestrians waited impatiently, but then the light changed and they started across unaware that one of them—a man—had suddenly crumpled to the ground. Dead. One or two pedestrians who noticed the man drop, stopped to help. The killer, a man with poison in a syringe, had quietly and quickly injected the man. No one noticed as he slipped away with the crowd.

When I think about that murderer, I'm reminded that there are silent assassins all around us. Time killers.

Like that murderer with the syringe, time killers look innocent enough. A harmless crossword puzzle in the newspaper. The inviting Sudoku game in the back of the magazine. An informative news feed on the Internet. Phone calls. Emails. Tweets. Facebook messages from friends and clients. Suddenly, your morning's gone. Unnoticed, innocent-looking distractions killed your valuable time.

We are often guilty of doing activities we like to do rather than activities we ought to do. We might actually work but still not accomplish what we need to get done. For example, scholars like to study; they don't like to write the paper. A homemaker may grocery shop but spend so much time reading labels that the house stays cluttered. Athletes like to run the winning play but may not want to meet curfew or do two-a-days. But to get ahead, we can't just do the jobs we like to do; we also have to do the jobs we need to do to succeed.

There's a way to do both. And a wealthy industrialist paid a lot of money to find out the secret I'm about to share with you—free.

About one hundred years ago, a man named Ivy Lee went to the president of Bethlehem Steel, Charles Schwab, and made a deal with him. Lee told Schwab he could increase Schwab's productivity as well as the workload of all his managers. What's more, Lee told Schwab he could help Schwab's executives produce a significant amount more if he could just spend fifteen minutes with each of them. To make the offer especially enticing, Lee told Schwab he wouldn't charge anything at all unless his advice worked. "Then, after three months," Lee told Schwab, "if my advice proves profitable, send me a check for whatever you think it's worth."

They struck a deal.

Here's how productive he was—Lee actually spent only ten minutes with each executive. Here's what he told them: "I want you to promise that for the next ninety days, before leaving your office at the end of each day, you'll make a list of the six most important things you have to do the next day and number them in their order of importance."

The executives were shocked that that was all they were asked to do.

"That's it," Lee said. "Scratch off each item after you finish it. Then go on to the next item on your list. If something doesn't get done, put it on the following day's list."

Each Bethlehem executive agreed to follow Lee's instructions. Three months later, Schwab studied the results. He was so pleased, he sent Lee a check for $35,000! (That may or may not seem like a lot of money to you, but this was one hundred years ago. At the time, the average United States worker made $2.00 a day or $4,000 a year. Thirty-five thousand dollars was a LOT of money! Even today, imagine if you spent a few minutes with a group of executives and gave each one the same, simple tip and got $35,000 for it. You'd be thrilled!)

Many people follow Lee's advice today. The founder of the $2.2 billion direct sales cosmetics company Mary Kay praised Lee's idea when she wrote the book You Can Have It All: Lifetime Wisdom from America's Foremost Woman Entrepreneur . Mary Kay Ash boasted that she herself followed Lee's advice. After all, she reasoned, Schwab was one of the smartest business professionals of his day. If he felt that bit of advice was worth paying $35,000, she ought to try it, too. So, each night she made a list of things to do the following day. But, she added a twist to it. She didn't just number the tasks in order of importance. She always put the hardest or most unappealing task at the top. "This way," she wrote, "I tackle the most difficult item first, and once it's out of the way, I feel my day is off to a good start."

Follow Lee's advice! Before you go to sleep tonight, figure out what you need to do tomorrow. Write down the six most important things you need to accomplish. Not only will you start tomorrow ready to go, but subconsciously, you'll also be working on those six projects while you sleep. Then, follow Mary Kay's advice and knock those tasks out from hardest to easiest.

Don't let your time get snuffed out by what appears to be an innocent killer! Stand guard. When you guard your time, you guard your life. For time is the stuff that life is made of.

#3: National Achievers Congress 2014

Assalammualaikum,

Last 23-25 May 2015, i was very fortunate to be selected by Popular to received a free ticket to NAC2014 that was held in MIECC Mines.

It was my first my first time going to this type of program, i was very excited..
There are many inputs i get, even though sometime i get tired and sleep the whole session of a speaker..haha
One of the speaker i've been waiting for is NICK VUJICIC. I get lot more input from him than the other speaker..Because other speaker only speaks few, but promoting their seminar and program that i absolutely i can't afford it yet..Peng Joon's program is very interesting but it'll cost me RM3997..If i have money, i don't care to spend this amount of money, to get more money..Problem is, i don't have it yet( I'm being positive here..saying not yet, instead of i don't have it lol)

below is my status on facebook, i copy pasted it back here:

quotes that i get from NICK VUJICIC:
"Plant seeds of hope , not fear"
This is very useful to us .. because, we always tends to think negative of everything before it happens..we always gives nightmares to ourselves..
"People will hate me"
"i will fail"
"nobody wants me"
"she'll leave me"
"people will laugh at me"
what else fear have you created for your self.?
instead of planting seeds of fear, why not plants seeds of hope? Coz you never know what Allah's plan for you
"PEOPLE WILL GLADLY THROW SEEDS OF BITTERNESS TO YOU,BUT YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO NOT PICK IT UP"

and i'm so lazy to type what i written on my notes, so here's picture of it (welcome to 21st century :p)

#2: MY LOVE LANGUANGE

Assalammualaikum,

Just nak share balik ape aku belajar dalam program Real Leaders by Seru.
So masa mula2 dulu, kiteorg ade buat pasal  love Languange. Lain org lain dia punya love languange..ada org suke Touch, ade org suke pujian, ade org suka hadiah, dan ada jugak org yg dia punya love languange is act of service, org camni suke bila org buat keje tuk dia..dia rasa disayangi sgt..

So untuk aku, lepas buat test tu, aku dapati love languange aku ialah QUALITY TIME AND WORDS.
Orang quality time ni dia suke spend dengan orang yg dia sayang and kawan2 dia..Orang words pulak dia suka dipuji..

Maksudnya kat sini, x de la aku ni nak disanjung2 oleh manusia, tp aku akan rase lebih motivated bila org puji aku..contohnya, Qilah ko pandai sebenarnya, Qilah cantik bju hari ni dan sebagainya..Something positif that can make my day..betul cakap Abg Mirul, kalau kita buat sesuatu yg sesuai dgn love languange org tu, org tu akn happy..kalau aku dpt pujian that day, aku akan rse delighted and x moody..

Next, Quality time, yeah..yang ni memang sangat2 betul..aku x leh la dibiarkan berseorangan..aku suke spend time dengan kwan2..so bila ade peluang, aku akan gunakan sebaik mungkin. Aku suke spend time ngan org2 yang aku sayang, Bagi aku, masa dengan diaorg ade lah masa yg mengembirakan. Cukup x suka, bila hangout, tp org lain fokus kat phone, memang time ko susah, phone tu yang akan tolong kau kan..

Jadi disebabkan aku x suke org pegang phone time hangout, aku pon akan sorok phone jauh2 nun dalam beg. I think it's rude when people talking, and you were laughing about jokes on your FB timeline.

I took the test again HERE, and the result is still the same :P

So what is yours?

RSS:Strength and weaknesses/ Goal.

 Assalammualaikum..

My first coaching with my coach:

I was asked to set a goal, so that i can achieve it..
i realised i don't have that specific goal about my personality.all my goals are, i think possible..for example: traveling a lot..possible right?
and strangely i don't have that goal to achieve the highest result in examination like scoring 4 flat every sem..
so i set my goal..a simple one, but always, my problem..TIME MANAGEMENT. I think i know how to solve it..but talking is just so much easier than to do it. I've my planner as suggested..but i don't know how to use it..i can't think of a busy life schedule. But i'm trying now

My 2nd coaching session:
I was instructed to ask my friend to list down my strength and weaknesses. With no surprise i already know what they gonna write down on the paper, i mean my flaws..there are list of it..Honestly, it hurts to know it, but i have nothing else to do except try to improve it day by day..My strength? since i heard so many of my flaws, i became self concern..sometime i don't know what my strength anymore.. :(

I'm a Yellow

Assalammualaikum,

Semalam aku buat sedikit test tentang prsonaliti..Aku memang berminat dengan personaliti test, sebab dia buat aku lebih kenal sape aku.Bila aku baca, aku nampak banyak persamaan dengan apa yang dikata dengan diri aku..

MOTIVE [ Fun ]
Yellows are motivated by Fun. They are inviting and embrace life as a party that they're hosting. They love playful interaction and can be extremely sociable. They are highly persuasive and seek instant gratification. Yellows need to be adored and praised. While yellows are carefree, they are sensitive and highly alert to others' agendas to control them. Yellows typically carry within themselves the gift of a good heart

Ok, nak explain skit la..Part yang motif tu kan, aku rase mmg 98% betul. Aku memang motivated by
fun..aku buat sesuatu benda tu memang sebab aku nak have fun..Sebagai contoh la kan, dulu masa mula masuk UM, aku tgk jd PM macam fun je, tp lama aku rse jd PM x fun, so aku x nk join dah. Pastu ade satu conference aku pergi, aku seriously tak have fun kat sana, last2 aku balik sebelum conference tu habis.. Sebelum nak buat apa2 aku akan fikir, best ke x buat benda ni..so yang ni mmg 100% true. So kalau nak buat apa event, pastikan org yellow ni gembira.hehehe

About highly persuasive tu aku x pasti sangat, tapi aku ni meniaga, ramai jugak cakap aku pandai mempromosi..kalau bab pujuk2 memujuk org, aku x pandai sgt kot..Maybe pandai, maybe x..hehe depends pada sapa org tu and apa aku akan dpt kalau aku berjaya memujuk..hahahahaha..(sound evil ke,hopefully no)

Yang need to be adored and praised tu, hmmm aku actually akan ckp it's true..Bukan la aku ni nak dipuji sepanjang masa, tp bila aku dipuji, aku rse macam dihargai dan aku tahu org nampak aku..aku x rsa disingkirkan..Aku paling x suke kalau dipinggirkan especially oleh kwn rapat..aku paling x suke kalau time aku ckp, org x dengar..aku akan makesure dyeorg ready bru aku akn cakap..hahaha..Aku sukakan perhatian..

Part last tu sume betul la,100% betul la aku cakap..aku mmg alert skit ttg org control aku..Aku paling paling paling x suka dicontrol..Aku nak buat ape aku nak buat..Aku jenis yang dengar jugak nasihat, tp aku x absorb sume, sbb aku boleh pikir sendri..kadang2 aku akan cri jalan lain..For example: masa nak sambung blaja dlm bidang science computer dulu, abah x berapa suka..tp aku x tahu dh ape yg aku boleh blaja, jadi Alhamdulillah, aku dapat sambung blaja kat UM dlm bidang yang aku nak..Abah setuju sebab UM ni bagus dan macam bila graduate tu aku ni kira produk branded la..harapnya..I don't let others control me easily.

ABOUT YELLOW
Yellows need to look good socially, and friendships command a high priority in their lives.
2. Yellows are happy, articulate, engaging of others and crave adventure.
3. Easily distracted, they can never sit still for long.
4.They embrace each day in the "present tense" and choose people who, like themselves, enjoy a curious nature.
5. Yellows are charismatic, spontaneous, and positive; but can also be irresponsible, obnoxious, and forgetful.
6.When you deal with a YELLOW, take a positive, upbeat approach and promote light-hearted, creative, and fun interactions.

OMG, what i'm gonna say is 99% is true..I value friendship, because it's very hard to find a good friend..If i fight with a friend, i will put away my ego and just say sorry even i'm not 100% wrong.
2. yes i do crave for adventure.
3. yeah i'm easily distracted and can never sit still for too long..Aku x faham maksud sit still tu..kalau dia maksud kan x boleh duduk lama, ye mmg aku x boleh duduk lama2 pon, sakit blakang and aku cepat bosan..so lecture 2 jam, adalah satu penyeksaan tuk aku. aku x bleh blaja dengan mendengar dan melihat, aku kene buat dan baca dan tulis..
4.TRUE TRUE TRUE..(malas nak explain)
5.charismatic tu aku x tau la betul ke x, kalau aku ckp betul org kata perasan plak..haha, anyway this part, org judge..forgetful tu betul, aku bru dpt gelaran miss short term memory oleh seorg kwan..aku lupa insiden2 kecil dan nama dan muka org..kalau jumpa skali, jgn harap aku nak ingat, bkan x nk ingat, dia macam x register dalam otak. irresponsible, hmm depends..kalau benda tu penting sgt aku akan buat la, kalau dia cm kecik je aku cam lambat2 kan..duhhh..and maybe sbb aku forgetful, aku pon lupa pd tanggungjawab.hahha tp it depend on situatun, not all the time.

Basically, post harini 100% tentang aku..mungkin ada yang rasa aku ni syok sendri..Tapi aku sebenarnya bg peluang org sekitar aku mengenali aku dengan lebih mudah..hhahahaha.

ok Till we meet again...
